ABOUT STEVEN K.

Steven is a Project Manager and Hydrogeologist with more than 12 years of experience in oil sands related exploration drilling, mining, earthworks, geotechnical instrumentation, hydrogeological investigations and aquifer depressurization. He is currently supporting multiple technical hydrogeological and operations support roles while managing several mining related projects. Steven served as the Geotechnical Aquifer Focal at Shell’s (now CNRL’s) Muskeg River Mine and Jackpine Mine where he managed and monitored the depressurization of multiple aquifers. He has worked as a hydrogeologist for numerous geological field programs related to oil sands mining operations and energy-related exploration programs in the Alberta oil sands. During hydrogeological investigations he has installed and monitored pumping and monitoring wells, collected water quality samples, conducted constant and variable rate pumping tests, along with data collection and management. He has managed geotechnical instrumentation data collection, QA/QC, and automation as a Geotechnical Surveillance Team Lead. He is an active project manager and has assisted field project management during drilling programs that have included resource coring, overburden logging, groundwater characterization, geotechnical investigations and installations, data interpretation and reporting. In addition to his project experience, he is committed to the health and safety of all his team members. He is an outspoken safety leader who works to instill the safety culture in those he supervises, coaches and mentors.
