Provide technical expertise to Aeronautical Information Services Group and Service Area Flight Procedures Teams on the concepts and principles contained in FAA Order 8260.3 Terminal Instrument Procedures Development FAA Order 8260.19 Flight Procedures and Airspace, and other applicable Orders and Directives.Involved in a wide range of functions- Review, evaluation, and revision of current and new instrument flight procedures - Determine the effect of proposed obstructions, altered or deactivated airports, NAVAID outages, and revisions to controlled airspace as they affect instrument flight procedures- Review aeronautical information released to confirm that air navigation information and technical data content is accurate and correct- Initiate corrective action where discrepancies are discovered and, if necessary, accomplish amendment(s) for affected procedure(s)- Provide background information for the development of Notice to Airman (NOTAM). Coordinate with Tech Ops, Flight Check, and Air Traffic personnel. Other contacts include regional and field offices, National Flight Data Center, military and airline representatives, state and local aviation officials, and aircraft and airport operators.Collect, analyze, and evaluate aeronautical data from worldwide data and imagery sources. Convert data into digital and graphic formats for use in supporting all phases of flight operations, including planning, enroute, and terminal. Operate computer systems and specialized software that is used to maintain databases and extract aeronautical information from multiple sources to support a wide variety of products. Work cooperatively with counterparts in government, military and private sector and foreign aeronautical offices to provide timely, accurate data and products. Activities include charting, compiling aeronautical charts, providing updates to related publications, and developing and revising Instrument Flight Procedures.
