About Steven Decaprio
I have over 30 years of experience leading environmental and justice campaigns. For over 20 years, I have mentored, trained, supported, and coordinated teams involved in advocacy, fundraising, and organizing. For over 10 years, I have been in nonprofit Director roles which include Chief Executive roles in small nonprofits and a State Director role with the Sierra Club, one of the oldest and largest environmental organizations in the United States. My work has involved managing stakeholder relationships, advocating for clean energy transition pathways, coordinating diverse stakeholder groups, managing large donor portfolios, grant writing, building major donor relationships, program assessment, strategic planning, nonprofit compliance and administration, and building international networks within cultural, education, advocacy, and political institutions. I have a demonstrated commitment to integrate climate and environmental justice, racial justice, and equity into my work. I have advocated for and supported transformative efforts to build diverse teams including and empowering people with different class, race, gender, orientation, ability, and other marginalized identities.
