About Steven D. Winfree

Designing solutions for community water challenges is one of my passions. Over the course of my professional engineering career, I have partnered with communities across the nation to design and construct Greenfield water, wastewater and water-reuse treatment facilities, as well as expand and rehabilitate existing facilities. I have experienced personal and professional career growth by fulfilling multiple roles on these design projects, including Process Engineer, Project Engineer, Project Technical Lead, Design Coordinator, and Practice Leader. Key experiences include developing a proficiency for technical leadership and interdisciplinary design coordination. Currently, I work as a Principal Engineer and Practice Leader for Stantec for our Water Business Center in Nevada. I have the opportunity to engage with our clients and bring the years of technical training and expertise to help define solutions to water challenges across the state. I am responsible for pursuing and capturing impactful projects that inspire our team and contribute to a strong and sustainable business.Communicating the design with the clients I work with every day is an exciting part of my job. Most often, the root cause of failure is poor communication. I believe we can’t say we are successful unless the solution can be visualized. Whether we use focused workshops or highly detailed 3D design models coupled with the latest in visualization technology, seeing is believing. One of the treasures I gained from my years of university studies is a love for learning. I choose to view opportunities with unlimited potential for personal and career development.
