About Steven Anlian
Steven J. Anlian, AICP, PLA, is a certified professional planner and registered landscape architect, with extensive experience in international development. He currently serves as a member of the St. Charles, MD Planning and Design Review Board.During his career, Mr. Anlian gained extensive experience in housing and urban development, environmental protection, local government capacity building, disaster and post-conflict reconstruction and sustainable recovery. From 19••••24, Mr. Anlian directly managed and implemented millions of dollars in development projects, humanitarian and technical assistance in the Former Soviet Union/Eastern Bloc, Asia and the Middle East, funded by USAID and other donors. He successfully trained and mentored teams of local professionals and helped foster new indigenous institutions. Since 2004, he has served on the Board of Advisors and as U.S. Representative for the Urban Foundation for Sustainable Development, Yerevan, Armenia Until 1992 when he started working internationally, Mr. Anlian practiced as a professional planner and landscape architect in the U.S, engaged with large scale, long-term land development and community planning efforts, including the New Town of St. Charles, MD, where he still maintains a professional affiliation.

As a member the St. Charles, MD Planning and Design Review Board (PDRB), Mr. Anlian serves in design review capacity of all new projects: residential, commercial, institutional and recreational. Appointed by the master community developer and residential builder, LENNAR, Mr. Anlian\'s position and the role of the PDRB is a function and requirement of the zoning docket for the St. Charles PUD (Planned Unit Development). Mr. Anlian\'s history in the planning and design of the new town of St. Charles initiated in 1976, so he brings a wealth of experience and a long-term perspective to the position.
