ABOUT STEVEN ADAM

Steve Adam is head of the Business Development team at Wi-LAN Inc, whose responsibilities include patent acquisitions, assessments of relevant markets, the identification of new business opportunities and the establishment of partnerships with patent owners. Mr Adam has worked in the patent licensing industry for more than 25 years and brings to the role over 35 years’ experience in management, sales, business development, licensing and strategic alliances. Mr Adam, who has successfully closed more than 45 patent transactions, was instrumental in bringing more than patents into Wi-LAN subsidiaries.Before joining Wi-LAN, Mr Adam worked at patent licensing company Pachira IP, where he had global responsibility for its business development efforts. Before Pachira, he spent seven years at Chipworks, a globally recognised patent-related technical services firm – most recently as Vice President, Patent Intelligence. At Chipworks, he was responsible for the overall operation of the patent business unit, including sales, marketing, programme management and engineering. Prior to Chipworks, Mr Adam was Director of Strategic Alliances for Corel Corporation. In this role, he was responsible for licensing WordPerfect and other software to PC manufacturers.Mr Adam has spoken at several conferences on the issues of patent quality, patent acquisitions and patent licensing, and has published articles in leading IP news sources.
