WordCamp Europe is the world\'s largest informal, community-organised gathering of WordPress enthusiasts from casual users to Core developers, where we discuss all things WordPress, share ideas and get to know each other.WordPress is the software used to power over 40% of websites around the world, and allows anyone to create a website, business or organisation using simple and easy publishing tools, through open-source coding.I originally became involved with WordPress whilst a student back in 2006 contributing and learning the technology which helped me understand web design, CMS functionalities and coding. This has supported my other roles over the past few years to engage colleagues and stakeholders through websites and portals relating to my roles and departments.I\'ve been involved with the European conference for the past few years, and it\'s the largest event in the world dedicated to WordPress. In 2022, we welcomed over attendees (and far more sponsors, volunteers and organisers) to the Super Bock Arena in Porto, Portugal. In 2023, I took the role of Team Lead for Communications when we held the conference at the Megaron International Conference Centre in Athens, Greece. This team have the key responsibilities of ensuring the main website is up to date, manage social media and also other key documents such as attendee email updates, signage for the venue, and nearly anything which is typed or created for the event. For 2024, we\'re heading to Torino, Italy.

ABOUT STEVE MOSBY

I\'m a huge people-person and keen on personal and team development. I think that colleagues are our biggest asset and a happy workforce is also productive. Quality Improvement training provided that to drive change, sometimes we don\'t ask permission but seek forgiveness. This brings courage, and allows ideas to flow.I\'ve spent many years working in Programme Management and Quality Improvement within our NHS and previously roles for Local and National Government organisations. I\'m really keen to see how technology can improve experiences, not only for end-users but also for those behind the scenes who work with processes on a daily basis. This has involved large scale workshop and event planning, breakthrough series models to support colleagues and partners and raising awareness of the impact of such change through a range of marketing, communications and social media impacts to drive engagement and collaboration. I’ve hosted a range of celebration events, full scale expo conferences and even down to smaller, local and individual meetings and focus groups with community and third sector teams. For the past few years I have contributed to the WordPress Foundation and help plan, support and run one of the largest conferences in Europe. I love meeting new people and learning new things - everyone should learn something new, and there\'s so much out there to choose from. You can see the latest event at https://europe.wordcamp.org.Using my technical knowledge, I also setup my own accounting and bookkeeping business over 10 years ago to support self employed individuals in the UK. The business is now run by a small team and day to day they look after the main items with some brief input from me occasionally. This uses technology and automation to support contractors in fulfilling their HMRC requirements. Since 2013, this has supported over individuals. And when I have some free time, I enjoy good food, with good friends, getting out for walks and bike rides, and travelling around the world.
