About Steve Mahaley

At the highest level, my purpose is to work at the intersection of technology and education design to develop effective, engaging experiences that change people’s lives for the better. I\'m an experienced investigator and innovator at the intersection of new technologies, global organizational needs, learner profiles, and immersive education design. Past digital learning strategist at Duke CE, the premier global provider of leadership development. Led design teams, and developed solutions for learning beyond the classroom, blending simulated and real learning environments, live online events, and value-added social networking. Innovations include a VR empathy-builder (shot in India), VR customer-centricity immersions, a mobile app for photo-based insights, and a museum-based experience for sharing personal development stories. Also wore an educator hat, traveling to work with leaders of various companies, teaching and facilitating experiential learning sessions. 10 years of service as a public school educator. That\'s where I learned that teaching is a performance art, and that every child can learn. Have also been a group home parent for teenage boys, a sous-chef in a restaurant serving eastern european cuisine, and a house painter, among other things. Specialties: VR, gaming, virtual worlds, facilitation, emotional intelligence, blended learning design, teaching, simulations, and design thinking for education.
