ABOUT STEVE CONLAY

I joined the employment law team in early 2012 after spending 7 years working in BPE’s industrial disease personal injury team.My main area of work is helping businesses in defending Employment Tribunal claims for unfair dismissal, race discrimination, sex discrimination and disability discrimination claims. Recent work includes high profile Employment Tribunal claims for public sector contractors and high value settlement agreements acting for both employee and employer. I am regularly featured in Lexology legal updates and provide regular articles to press and magazines commenting on the ever changing landscape of employment law and breaking case law. I can often be found providing talks, both formal and informal on employment law and have been described by CIPD as providing a “serious message with humour and interest”. I run the BPE Employment Twitter account which can be found at @bpe_employmentIndustrial Disease Personal Injury 20••••12Since joining BPE in 2005, following a 10 year spell in retail management, I have acted for both claimants and respondents, including work in Health and Safety Executive prosecutions and the finer points of vicarious liability claims.
