ABOUT STEVE BRANDL

I am an accomplished law firm leader having more than 35 years of experience with law firms with offices in many major U.S. markets. I have assisted Managing Partners, Boards of Directors, Executive and Management Committees to drive substantial and sustained profitability and improved client service. At the same time I have created lean but responsive support organizations through careful analysis of the structures and talent to deliver on the strategic and tactical initiatives that I have worked to develop at each firm. I have been able to provide leadership and management in all facets of law firm operations including: lateral partner candidate recruitment and hiring; evaluation of potential merger candidates and incorporation of merged firms; budgeting, billing, collections, financial reporting and all finance related operations; support staff structural reorganization (i.e, organizational development and training, compensation, service delivery model change, etc.); Human Resources management; facilities (i.e, building evaluations, lease negotiation, construction, remodeling, etc.); Pro Bono services oversight; outsourced operations and other procurement; computerized legal research and print services evaluations, negotiations and acquisition; compensation system review and re-design; risk management including implementing computerized new business intake systems and professional liability insurance negotiations; insured benefits plan design and management; matter project management, pricing and profitability; and overseeing associate hiring, development and diversity initiatives. In short, I have been involved in virtually every facet of firm management. I have been able to build successful teams and mentor non-lawyer leaders and managers in their roles in order to promote stronger, more resilient leadership. At the same time I have been able to build valuable and mutually beneficial relationships with all firm stakeholders along the way.
