ABOUT STEVE TAPLEY

I am a results-oriented operations manager with a background in maintenance and reliability. I am a leader adept at driving asset dependability and supporting efficient operations while also reducing costs and preventing loss of productivity. My expertise has largely been gained from 10 years with GKN Sinter Metals, a leading manufacturer of metal products for industrial, aerospace, and automotive applications. My career began with a summer co-op, where I established foundational knowledge in mechanical components of various pieces of shop equipment. From there, I started my apprenticeship as a Millwright with GKN Sinter Metals, where I advanced my skillset in solving mechanical issues, replacing parts, and coordinating preventative maintenance programs. The foundation I gained early on in my career has allowed me to achieve success as an established Maintenance Supervisor, and later as Maintenance Manager. As a leader, I have the unique ability to connect with the teams I oversee and establish a strong rapport due to my background as a Millwright and Scheduling Assistant. I not only understand the operational and financial aspects of maintenance departments, but also how mechanical components operate and the importance of maximizing equipment lifespan. I foster team-oriented environments plant-wide and drive operations to improve quality and productivity. Being a key decision maker, I am a strong advocate of integrating innovative technologies and smart systems that monitor performance in real time, anticipate downtime, and employ dynamic and preventative maintenance.
