Steve Swan is a Business Director and he takes the lead on all Welfare to Work related matters and celebrated his 25th year with Tomorrows People in September 2014. Steve joined Tomorrow’s People in 1989 as an Area Manager and has since progressed through area, regional and national levels into his current position.As a member of the Trust’s Senior Management Team, Steve also shares responsibility for overall management of Tomorrow’s People.Steve is in his 41st year of employment in the Welfare to Work sector and his experience includes 7 years with the Governments Employment Service (1974 – 1981) and 8 years with the Manpower Services Commission (1981 – 1989).Steve is a Board member and now Chair of ERSA. He is also the ERSA Board lead on the ERSA Supply Chain forum and is active in other ways, for example he is chairing the Social Financing round-table.Steve is an independent member of the Merlin Advisory Board and was on the Merlin Working Group from its inception.Steve often advised various Government Departments on matters relating to Third Sector involvement in Welfare to Work and for example, he chaired a sub group of the DWP Best Practice Group which focussed on VCS engagement in The Work Programme.He is a Fellow of the Institute of Employment Professionals (IEP) and is a member of IEP’s Compliance Committee.In addition, he is a member of NCVO’s special interest groups on Welfare to Work. Steve Swan
