As a Senior Development Underwriter my primary responsibility is to grow and maintain a profitable book of business by underwriting new and renewal risks, developing and maintaining strong relationships with brokers and internal partners, and identifying new business opportunities.My role involves a combination of risk assessment, strategic market engagement, and mentorship for junior staff to ensure adherence to the company\'s risk appetite and financial goals. Key ResponsibilitiesUnderwriting and Risk Assessment:o Evaluate complex risks to determine appropriate pricing and terms, aligning with the company\'s risk appetite and underwriting guidelines.o Prepare and present underwriting reviews for individual policies and portfolios. Business Development & Broker Relationships:o Cultivate and maintain relationships with brokers and internal partners to drive growth, identify cross-selling opportunities, and retain existing accounts.Strategy and Market Expertise:o Develop pipeline plans and execute strategies to identify and seize new business opportunities.o Stay informed about market trends, competitive information, regulatory changes, and product developments to inform decision-making.o Contribute to process improvements and product development within the team. o Skills and Experience I’m required to demonstrate:Analytical, decision-making, and risk assessment skills.• Relationship management, communication, and negotiation abilities.• Commercial acumen to identify and capitalise on business opportunities.• Ability to work independently, manage workloads effectively, and maintain comprehensive records.
