ABOUT STEVE SLIMMON

I graduated from SAIT EDDT (Engineering Drafting and Design Technology), majoring in both Piping and Structural design, with minors in Electrical and HVAC design. I have over 29 years of experience working primarily on Alberta Oil Sands, SAGD, and midstream gas projects. I also work in the shipbuilding industry in Canada to build next generation vessels for the Canadian Navy and Coast Guard.My focus is on making myself and my company a leader in Health, Safety and Environment, both within the office and in the field. I have won multiple safety recognition and work performance awards. I have worked on every aspect of a project at all stages of a project lifecycle; proposals, Pre-FEED, FEED, DE, construction support, and commissioning support. My experience has allowed me to work heavily on every facet of projects; proposals including man-hour estimates, schedule planning and reviews, developing and designing plan drawings (plot plans, equipment plans, utility station plans, etc.), Block Flow Diagrams (BFD), Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), Heat and Material Balances (HMB), Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P & ID), line designation tables (LDT), standard piping details, etc. to doing detailed 2D and 3D design of equipment and piping using various software programs and giving direct field engineering support at site.I have many years of experience on 3D software and am fluent in PDS, AutoPlant, Plant 3D, Cadworx, Procad, Microstation, AutoCad, Shipconstructor, Cadmatic, Navisworks, Eshare and SmartPlant Review (SPR). I have also been heavily involved in 3D laser scanning of existing facilities and the incorporation of this information into Navisworks software to ensure brownfield projects are executed accurately.I have worked as a designer, design lead, checker, QA/QC lead, and department manager for piping, stress engineering and CADD support disciplines.I have been to various sites many times and have a high level of focus on constructability, operability, maintainability while being cognizant of cost and schedule and have developed strong relationships with personnel in various brownfield plants.I have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills. I have strong organization skills that I use to develop work plans, procedures and systems for projects and people. I have excellent written and verbal communication. I enjoy working with teams of people and try to help bring out the best in everyone and the challenge of using innovation and creativity to solve the issues and concerns that arise on every project.
