ABOUT STEVE SIMMONDS

Fifteen years ago, Steve’s entrepreneurial spirit helped him recognize a missing component in the healthcare delivery system—patients cannot get better if they cannot get care. So, he and his wife Maureen founded Transport U, Pittsburgh’s premier and only dedicated non-emergent patient transportation service. For nearly a decade and a half, Maureen ran the business and Steve grew the business—both of them positively impacting tens of thousands of lives throughout our communities. Steve’s business development prowess, networking ability, and just plain hard work helped Transport U expand its service areas from hospital-based transportation to include physician practice networks, cancer centers, long-term care facilities, dialysis providers and other organizations throughout the healthcare continuum. He also expanded Transport U’s geographic footprint from Allegheny County to the entire tri-state area from Erie to Morgantown and Columbus to Johnstown and often beyond. In 2013 the company was recognized by the Pittsburgh Business Times as one of the region’s fastest growing companies. Since then, and with nearly 30 years of employee and patient transportation experience behind him, Steve has expanded his role in the region to include mentoring and consulting others to adopt his model. He currently serves as Vice President of Regency Global Transportation where he is working with company leadership and staff, again utilizing that same successful entrepreneurial spirit, in helping them expand their service offerings and pivot in a post-pandemic world. The cornerstone of Steve’s personal and professional mission is a blend of community and family. From helping families with disabled children by donating modern wheel-chair accessible vans and equipment to serving as a Eucharistic Minister at Saint Richards Catholic Church in Gibsonia for the past 20 years, Steve wears his big heart on his sleeve and is not afraid to roll that sleeve up and get to work if it means doing something good for someone else. Steve and Maureen reside in Pine Township and enjoy spending time with their two sons Steven Jr. and Zachary, and their granddaughter Aalyiah.
