   Co-Leader of the Education & Awareness Committee of the Steffens Scleroderma Foundation.The Ann Steffens Scleroderma Research Foundation\'s mission is to- Support and promote research toward treatment and cure of scleroderma, Degos disease, and other related disorders - Promote awareness and understanding of these disorders, especially among health-care professionals - Encourage collaborative efforts, nationally and internationally, aimed at realizing these goalsSteffens’ primary areas of focus are research, awareness and collaboration, all toward the goal of earlier diagnosis and more effective therapy.The Interprofessional Education Program first offered in 2018, in partnership with Russell Sage College and Albany College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences. This unique patient-led program has been offered 7 times, and with its 8th offering this April, will have educated over 1,500 students regarding this rare disease. Since 2021, due to Covid, the program has been offered virtually, enabling others from outside the Albany area to attend.The goal of the Education & Awareness Committee is to grow the reach of the IPE Program, and provide other opportunities for healthcare students and practitioners to increase awareness of scleroderma.
