ABOUT STEVE PEOPLES
After 23 years of NYC service, 18+ years being with the Department of Correction, I’ve retired to relocate to Los Angeles, CA. My entire career has been within my field of study from St. John’s university, which was Criminal Justice - where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree and a minor in psychology. I was a NYC certified Administrative Investigator which is the highest level of DCAS related tests in the field of investigations. I started my career with the NYC Department of Human Resources as a fraud investigator then transitioned over to the NYC Department of Transportation (DOT). While at DOT, I was promoted to Chief of two units which primarily focused on internal investigations. I applied for the investigator position with the Department of Correction (DOC) and in my 18 + years with the agency, I was promoted five times, ending my career with DOC as an Executive Director. Overseeing three of the major investigative units in the department, I was heavily involved with street operations for the apprehension of escaped inmates or erroneously discharged inmates. Working hand in hand with several other stakeholders including NYPD, NYC probation and other law enforcement agencies. Also overseeing the re-arrests for incarcerated individuals who committed additional crimes while in custody, which was presented to the Bronx DA for prosecution. Furthermore, I was deputized with the US Marshal (DOJ) as part of the fugitive task force. I was also recruited for a brief time to work with the Department of Investigation - Squad 1 which oversaw major corruption and egregious use of force cases primarily with the NYC Department of Correction. I was presented an opportunity to change fields of employment to transportation and was hired by Transdev NA, as the Director of Safety and Security. During my time in that position, I helped change the culture at the Foothill transit, Arcadia yard. So much so, in less than a year, I was promoted to the Assistant General Manager. Currently, the AGM with Keolis N.A. and working out of the Pomona yard with Foothill Transit.
