About Steve Novak

I am a proven Composite Assembly and Detail Manufacturing Engineer, Planner and Manager that has worked with composite structures for both OEM and Aftermarket Commercial/Military Aircraft providers. I understand engineering flow, planning, tool design/fab, Production Fabrication, schedule, cost, configuration management, MRB and conformity/certification/acceptance/qualification testing of commercial and military aerospace projects. As of Sept/2019, I am on a new career path at Blue Origin in their Kent, Wa Engine Development Facility. Learning how high pressure valve assemblies work is something new to me but I do bring with me years of certification and migration into Full Scale Production experiences. Our new Huntsville, Alabama facility will take on the full scale production of the engines being designed in Kent, Wa, tested in Texas and built in Alabama with all new facilities. My specialty had been composite planning, layup, development and fabrication (such as Aircraft Interiors) and CFRP hand or machine ply-by-ply vacuum bag layup and compression molding (Open Face Molds, AFP, CTLM, Crushed Core and Random Fiber compression molding). I have been a Manufacturing Engineering Manager. I enjoy working from the engineering release structure (ie: CATIA, Enovia) thru tool design and first article delivery.I had been very involved implementing a Manufacturing Execution System called Delmia/Velocity into 5 divisions of Hexcel Corp. The company is implementing Delmia division wide. This is not only an online planning system but is also a paperless workorder release system. All divisions went from paper work orders releases to paperless.I got back into serial production at Aim Aerospace in Washington State as a Senior Manufacturing Engineering/Lead in 2018.I enjoy both working alone and with teams to achieve financial success for my employer.Specialties: Hand/Machine Layup of light weight FRP and CFRP composite details and cobond assemblies. Vacuum Bagged/Compression Molded, Oven/Autoclave Cured Composite, Planning, Manufacturing and Tooling. Hands on knowledge of manufacturing and repair. Project Managed approach to larger efforts. Manage People and Resources.
