ABOUT STEVE ROSSI

I work at the intersection of voice and speech AI data, audio engineering, and music education, contributing to the development, training, and evaluation of modern voice and speech technologies.In this work, I record voice datasets and evaluate AI-generated speech and narration, applying structured rubrics and prompt-based testing to assess prosody, pacing, emotional delivery, articulation, and overall voice realism.Alongside this work, I serve as a Music Director at School of Rock, where I lead performance programs, mentor musicians, and coordinate teams of instructors. I’ve directed hundreds of live performances and managed teams of up to 45 instructors and program leaders, including responsibilities for interviewing, onboarding, and training instructors while maintaining high standards for timing, tone, phrasing, and performance execution.I’ve also been a longtime House Band director, leading one of the school’s most advanced audition-only ensembles that performs high‑profile shows and tours nationally each summer. In addition, I’ve been selected twice as a School of Rock AllStars director, working with top student musicians chosen from across the School of Rock network of more than students worldwide. These experiences further reinforce the listening, evaluation, performance coaching, and leadership skills that translate naturally to the evaluation of speech and narration in modern voice AI systems.I’m particularly interested in the intersection of voice and speech, music, audio engineering, music education, and AI, where careful listening and performance nuance help improve the realism, clarity, and expressiveness of modern voice and audio technologies. I welcome opportunities to collaborate on voice and music datasets, speech and audio evaluation, and AI training workflows.Outside of work, you’ll usually find me spending time with my family, cooking, composing and producing original music, or exploring the latest developments in AI.
