ABOUT STEVE HEDBERG

I’m the President & CEO, and Principal Geological Engineer, at BGC Engineering Inc. BGC is a 500-person international consulting firm headquartered in Vancouver, BC, that provides professional services in applied earth sciences in the mining, pipeline, and public sectors. BGC’s team of professional engineers, geoscientists, technicians and support staff provide a full range of investigation, design and construction review services. I assumed the President & CEO roles & responsibilities in 2010 and we currently have 9 offices in Canada, the US, and South America. BGC is of sufficient size to offer a full range of services, while being committed to personal connection between BGCers and our clients. Our company culture is critical to our strategy and is a primary focus.I’m passionate about supporting philanthropic initiatives through BGC Squared. This has taken on many forms, but has included personal contributions to the Covenant House Vancouver, a local non-profit organization with the mission of providing youths with the support needed to transition from homelessness to self sufficiency. Over the past 5 years, I have participated in the Covenant House Executive Sleep Out, and with the donations from BGCers, and many of you, we successfully raised ~$200k for this great cause.I’m involved in Vancouver’s business community and am an active member of MacKay CEO Forums: a group of CEOs and business leaders across Canada who share ideas and experiences. As a member of this network, I have had the opportunity to collaborate with many experienced leaders. This experience has helped BGC set some big goals for ourselves, including being the world leader in applied earth sciences practice by 2025.
