ABOUT STEVE HARTSHORN

I currently lead the Police Federation of England & Wales as the National Chair and have the privilege to represent the interests of approx police officers from the ranks of the Special Constabulary, Constable, Sergeant, Inspector and Chief Inspector. Whilst at PFEW I have been successfully involved as either leading or being part of a wider team involved in the following areas.# Police Officers with a Colour Vision Deficiency (CVD) are now allowed to train and carry a TASER.# Made effective representations that AFO\'s with a CVD should be permitted to train and deploy (ongoing study)# Special Constables were formally accepted into PFEW as members and hold the same entitlements as paid police officers.# Members of the Special Constabulary (Home office & Non Home office forces) were permitted to train and carry a TASER operationally.# Represented PFEW and member interests at the National Policing Board to various Home Secretary\'s.# Introduced, and continually support, Operation Hampshire to PFEW and worked to make it a national legacy policy.# Initiated & presented to the DPP a proposal for consultation of victims of assault prior to charge.# Consulted on a proposed CP policy change and prevented Pfew members and senior policing leaders from being disadvantaged.# Kept my pre election manifesto promise to remedy the internal PFEW communications.# Actively supported the National Violence Against Women and Girls in preventing and responding to violence against women and girls.# Secured a significant funding from government for a Policing area in need of financial support.# Introduced Neurodiversity Awareness training to all regional pfew chairs.# Initiated and contributed to the\"Positive Policing Week\" held on national radio.# Spoke nationally and internationally about UK policing to raise external stakeholder awareness on policing issues. Prior to taking up my current role within PFEW I was the Operational Policing (OP) business area lead and national lead for Post incident procedures (PIP), Firearms, Taser and Less than lethal options. As well as being the OP lead I actively led PFEW for Maritime, Counter Drones, and Self Defence and Restraint. I also worked on the Professional Development, Conduct & Performance, Parliamentary Sub Committee and a Communications working group.
