Responsible for the supervision and control of those personnel in the Department of Public Safety, a 22-person safety department, which includes 14 sworn police officers at two college campuses- Clarifies and communicates statements of department policy and procedures to all constituents of the College community as necessary- Establishes and maintains the highest ethical and professional standard for department personnel- Develops the organizational structure of the division in accordance with professional standards and, by application of sound management techniques and principles, integrates related activities under the control of intermediate supervisors and is held accountable for effective conduct of such activities- Directs the internal activities of the Department of Public Safety with minimal external assistance- Develops and maintains liaison with university professional associations such as IACLEA and with area law enforcement agencies, including federal, state and local agencies, the courts and prosecutor’s offices- Maintains distribution of campus keys and security cards- Provides procedures for distribution of keys to new employees as well as procedures to retrieve keys from employees who are leaving- Responsible for recruiting, selecting, training, special assignments, promotions, disciplinary and all other administrative action regarding personnel under police leadership and security- Responsible for providing student and employee identification badges and cards- Prepares reports on activity and productivity for the department. Analyzes statistics and trends in order to formulate an effective response to crime and requests for services- Conducts hazard and vulnerability assessments on college buildings and infrastructure- Compiles and submits statistics and data for Annual Security Report in compliance with the Clery Act, VAWA, and Title IX requirements.
