About Steve Hansch
Humanitarian health professional with 40 years of progressive experience delivering aid in remote and austere settings, analyzing lessons via evaluations, overseeing NGO strategy and growth, program design, teaching and setting standards. Work in over 80 countries and nvolved in numerous communities of practice to craft evolving best practice particularly in health, nutrition, logistics and livelihoods in complex emergencies. Recently led study for USAID about attacks on health care in conflicts. Taught 120 advanced graduate technical courses in humanitarian aid as well as dozens of professional training courses for NGOs, including over a dozen focused on SPHERE standards. Actively engaged in NGO networks and over 60 years of service on NGO boards of directors.

Active in RI\'s growth from $6M/year nonprofit when I joined to $170M/year NGO. Helped RI\'s field work in Somalia, Darfur, Sri Lanka, Albania, Kosovo, South Sudan, Uganda and other program areas. Active in design of strategic plans every few years. Traveling in Darfur with IDPs, meeting with the ICRC, UN cluster groups and partner organizations, came up with innovative proposal to mitigate attacks and mortality in Darfur villages, submitted to various donors on behalf of Relief International.
