I joined as Senior Frontend Engineer and was promoted to Lead Engineer within my first year. The N1 Checkout Platform was subsequently moved from the Italian team to the UK to lead globally, a greenfield rebuild of the checkout system for multiple brands across seven European markets and Canada. I designed the architecture and grew the team from a small core group to over 30 engineers.•Took the platform Lighthouse score from 19 to 96 and cut LCP by 83%(15.1s to 2.6s) through SSR optimisation, state management improvements and component architecture work.•Designed a config-driven, domain-driven checkout platform in Next.js, React and TypeScript that supports multiple brands and markets from a single codebase, without forking for every variation.•Own the full payments layer covering CyberSource, Klarna Express Checkout, Apple Pay, PayPal, iDEAL and Bancontact across markets, each with their own integration requirements and edge cases.•Led frontend resilience architecture including retry logic, circuit breakers, caching strategies and error boundary patterns, alongside a custom analytics layer spanning GA4, GTM and Adobe Analytics across all brands.•Built AI powered tooling across the platform using the Anthropic API, covering error mapping and triage in Jira, configuration tooling, bug analysis, and automated test generation from checkout flows.
