ABOUT STEVE DIXON
I run a research group focused on ultrasonic applications including Non-Destructive Testing and flow measurement, and have done so for the past 25 years. I am also the Director for the Centre for Industrial Ultrasonics - a University research centre that spans several academic departments across the University. In addition to our work in ultrasonics, I have also worked in the areas of eddy current, thermography, magnetic and electromagnetic NDT. Our aim to support industrial partners through research collaborations.I have been lucky to work with hundreds of industrial and academic partner organisations over the past 25 years, and have been directly involved in setting up many contracts and agreements that have enabled us to transfer knowledge, whilst also publishing in the leading journals in our field.I have also been fortunate to hold EPSRC, Royal Society and Royal Academy of Engineering Research Fellowships over the past 25 years, during which time I have secured somewhere in the region of £10M of research funding.As part of my University work I also get involved in University related administration and management. I am involved in helping the University and my faculty develop Impact and industrial engagement across the board.I have also been a Director for Sonemat Ltd since I set it up in 2005 with my co-Director Dr Mark Potter. We set Sonemat up because at the time, there were no companies with the necessary experience that we could license our EMAT technology to. I am also one of the founders of a an SME working in flow measurement.
