Projects have included developing and updating blowout and emergency response contingency plans, bridging documents, HP/HT manuals, well control manuals, and developing and delivering custom training courses. Worked with a super major Gulf of Mexico exploration team drilling engineers and subsurface support staff on calculations and impacts of worstcase discharge scenarios using OLGA and PROSPER computer simulation modeling software for Exploration Plans (EP) and Application for Permit to Drill (APD) for BOEM/BSEE. Approved the relief well surface and mudline locations, wellbore directional plans, intercept point selection, anti-collision, and ranging strategy to locate the target well. Worked thru the associated relief well dynamic kill logistics which includes storage and fluid transfer of up to bbls of kill weight mud offshore between vessels, properly sizing pumps based on estimated pumping pressure and dynamic kill rates, design of the surface lines and manifolds, and backup/contingency plans in the event of equipment failure. Developed the Common Operating Picture strategy with Greater Gulf of Mexico Emergency Management team. Successfully designed, tested, and installed magnetized casing in the Gulf of Mexico for being able to drill a relief well in salt. Project lead for industry-leading subsea BOP erosion testing during a high-rate dynamic kill scenario and developing the computational fluid dynamics models with business partners to advance erosion prediction.
