ABOUT STEVE B.

I am an experienced, technically trained senior project/engineering manager within the production engineering sector, confident, capable with a proven track record. Highly skilled at managing people, projects and process change in any service delivery/project environment. I am workplace safety conscious, carrying both NEBOSH and IOSH certifications. Following performance reviews with my managers or directors, I have been described as – ‘very driven’, ‘focused on the task at hand’, ‘firm but fair minded people manager, with good interpersonal skills’. Examples of areas I have successfully managed - FLEET INTRODUCTION - Holding single point accountability for forecasting, planning, resourcing, training, documentation, tooling, infrastructure and material supply chain of various new builds of train fleets. These fleets included, 30 new 5 car metro trains, 15 new 4 car metro trains, 30 new 4 car express trains and 17 new intercontinental trains. These activities were all successfully delivered. PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT – I consistently achieved business targets under tight availability and budgetary directives. Holding positions such as PRODUCTION IMPLEMENTATION MANAGER – Personally enabling 250 maintenance engineers with the correct training, equipment and infrastructure to maintain a fleet of ageing high speed trains. HEAVEY MAINTENANCE MANAGER – I managed the delivery of all the major exams on 26 intercontinental trains, working to and hitting tight time and quality targets. CHANGE/PROJECT MANAGEMENT – Project managed on time and to budget – the Introduction of IBM’s Maximo7 data system and NEXALA’s Equinox EMS data system, investors in people charter and achieving the ISO9001 quality accreditation within a very busy production environment. Currently studying for a BA (Honours) Business Management (Leadership Practice), part time which I am finding very rewarding.
