Assistant Professor of Political Science and International Relations @Saint Michael's College
Specializing in political populism and extremism, democratic governance, and criminal justice, I bring a dynamic blend of teaching expertise and an aggressive research agenda to my role.I am dedicated to linking students to the political system by cultivating meaningful connections between the classroom and policymakers. I have organized guest lectures and discussions with prominent figures, including state senators, house representatives from Vermont, and the Vermont Lieutenant Governor, providing students with direct insights into policy-making and governance. My research investigates the intersections of political violence, misinformation, and authoritarian populism, with a particular focus on their impacts on democratic systems and transatlantic relations. As I develop theories on the recruitment strategies of political extremists and authoritarian nationalist movements, my research has progressively shifted towards examining how the rise of nationalism on both sides of the Atlantic is increasingly threatening the transatlantic democratic relationship.
