ABOUT STEPHEN VIEL
Dr. Stephen Viel, MD, MBA is a dual board-certified physician in Emergency Medicine and Addiction Medicine. He practices full-time as an Emergency Physician at Halifax Health in Daytona Beach, Florida, where he is actively involved in the acute care of patients across a wide range of medical and behavioral health conditions.In addition to his clinical emergency medicine work, Dr. Viel provides independent, physician-led substance use evaluations and regulatory services for legal, employment, and compliance-driven matters. His work includes DOT Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) evaluations, Medical Review Officer (MRO) services (DOT and non-DOT), Independent Medical Evaluations (IMEs), and related consulting focused on substance use, impairment, fitness for duty, and return-to-work determinations.Dr. Viel completed his Emergency Medicine training at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. He is also a co-founder of Shoreline Medical Addiction Treatment, a community-based outpatient practice focused on expanding access to evidence-based addiction care.Outside of medicine, Dr. Viel enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors with his family.
