About Stephen Steim

With over two decades of experience in fundraising, strategic communications, narrative change, visual storytelling, and business development, I am currently the Director, Donor Strategy at the International Rescue Committee (IRC). In this role, I collaborate with a global team of fundraisers and senior leaders to deepen and transform the experience for high-value donors, ensuring their contributions make a significant impact on our mission.Before joining IRC, I served as the Executive Director of the New Media Advocacy Project (NMAP), an international capacity-building program focused on narrative change and impact storytelling. Over my nine-year tenure, I led NMAP\'s strategic transformation from a non-profit production studio to a global network of changemakers utilizing stories to advance human rights and environmental justice.Throughout my career, I have been passionate about co-production, values-based communications, and innovative methods to empower progressive movements. My work involves setting strategic directions, securing funding, and managing international teams to achieve our goals. I am committed to leveraging my skills and experience to foster a more just and equitable world through effective storytelling and donor engagement.
