About Stephen Rayfield
I’m an education leader and practitioner-scholar who helps people build systems that actually work, and cultures that don’t chew up the humans inside them. I lead improvement work, coach implementation, and design learning that’s practical, rigorous, and deeply usable. My lane sits at the intersection of leadership, policy, and real-world execution. I’m especially focused on the Science of Reading and what it takes to move from “training completed” to “instruction changed.” I also teach and coach restorative practices because accountability without dignity is just compliance with better branding.I’m also a writer. I care about language, story, and clarity, and I’m always chasing the same goal: make it useful; make it human; make it look good.

Expert in implementation and leadership coaching around whole-systems change. I am an instructor in organizational theory around the implementation of Restorative Practices and the effects on organizational culture. I support the full-scale implementation of systems-change initiatives in partnership with school districts at large through the identification of focus areas of need, shifts in current organizational practices in response to focus areas, onsite coaching, and holistic and accessible support throughout the school year(s).
