ABOUT STEPHEN ORTON

A Graduate student in the field of Social Service Worker from Seneca Polytechnic in Toronto. My current role is working with clients in a Residential Support Worker capacity I work for Maison Decision Home in Ottawa working with clients from Corrections Service Canada. I have three plus years of personal support experience working with seniors. In addition, I have four years of mental health and addictions experience. Four years of homelessness experience, 16 months living in a shelter system while attending a program in Toronto. My lived experience may be an asset when working with clients. I have been a client of Ontario Works and ODSP and the product of treatment facilities and transitional housing. 200 plus hours of experience with outreach programs as a volunteer through the homeless shelter system. My strongest assets include, coordination and the implementation of group settings, one-on-one assessments, clinical notes, crisis prevention intervention non-violent, peer support, outreach programs. In Addition to Active listening, working with concurrent disorders, harm reduction and trauma-informed care. I have personal experiences and education working with and supporting individuals in the 2SLGBTQ+ and Indigenous community. I am dedicated to providing the best possible client care, while providing a safe environment for the client to grow and experience hope as an individual and or family. I am passionate and excited about my new career in Social Service Work. In 2025, my journey will include my continued studies in obtaining my Bachelor of Social Work.
