Manage full-time office of four dedicated staff and complement of interns while serving as the Governor’s Legislative Liaison for education, overseeing the management of the administration’s legislative agenda and reporting directly to the Governor’s Office of Legislative Affairs and the Secretary of Education.Key projects and achievements: Negotiated passage of Omnibus PA School Code, Act 55 of 2022, after 4 years of partisan gridlock. This law is the most significant state investment in PA students and schools in 30 years and incorporates almost two dozen bills into one cohesive and historic piece of legislation that included an unprecedented $1.8B increase in state funding to benefit students from pre-k through college and $850M in reoccurring funding to allow school districts to invest in student learning while simultaneously cutting local property taxes. This legislation was the Governor’s top budget priority in final year in office.Accomplished passage of 20 pieces of legislation on issues ranging from the creation of a new online course exchange to the establishment of a disability inclusive K-12 curriculum program to Act 91 of 2021, which eases teacher shortage by streamlining certification process and creating a new Online Nurse-Aide Training Program to ease the nursing shortage.Established in law a dedicated Title 9 Coordinator within PA Department of Education (PDE) via statute to ensure safety of campuses and encourage Institutions of Higher Education to consult with PDE when creating policies to comply with Title 9 of the Federal Higher Education Act.
