About Stephenie A. Johnson
I am a program operations expert who proactively collaborates with others and uses data to drive and adjust strategic goals and decision-making. I take a people-centered approach to everything I do, and I firmly believe that investing in and influencing others, through active empathetic listening and clear communication, is the key to organizational success. Having a high degree of emotional intelligence is central to who I am, and I utilize my understanding of self and others to contribute to a culture of trust, curiosity, and authenticity. Memphis, TN (2018-present): I am currently providing strategic consulting services to Meta, Teach For America, and Aurora Collegiate Academy as the principal of Central Avenue Solutions, LLC. Formerly, I was the Program Director of the Learning Engineering Virtual Institute at The Learning Agency, a consulting firm focused on improving learning through science. Before that, I was the Managing Director, Program Operations at TFA Memphis, where I ensured corps members were licensed to teach on day one of their classroom experience and stewarded the school placement strategy for the region. During my time at TFA, I began my tenure as a Board Member of Aurora Collegiate Academy.Washington, DC (20••••18): Prior to moving back to Memphis, I held several positions on the K-12 Education team at the Center for American Progress, where I consulted on project development for CAP\'s teacher pipeline team while adding capacity to their charter school work and leading their social media strategy. I also led much of the strategic planning and state capacity-building behind TeachStrong, a national campaign to modernize and elevate the teaching profession. Before CAP, I completed the Social Policy & Politics fellowship at Third Way. Boston, MA (20••••14): While in graduate school, I supervised student teachers as they completed their teacher training at Boston College. As a law school student, I held internships at the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law in D.C; the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights in Boston; and the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Massachusetts. I earned my J.D. and M.Ed. from Boston College in 2014.Baton Rouge, LA (20••••11): I started my career as a teacher through Teach For America - South Louisiana. I taught fifth grade special education in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for two years before law school, from 20••••11.
