I’m developing Digital Narrative Care (DNC): practical governance and aftercare for “digital tools in the room” in health & social care — especially mental health, safeguarding and other human-stakes narrative contexts.Focus: record integrity, meaning integrity, aftercare (not just productivity and privacy).I develop and deliver workforce development for safe use of ambient digital tools in high-stakes narrative contexts (mental health, safeguarding, wellbeing).Work includes workshops (in-person/remote), team sessions, scripts and red-flag recognition, escalation routes, and governance-ready packs.Focus: record integrity, meaning integrity, aftercare — with a risk-tier “dial”, not one-size-fits-all checks.Deliverables: workshops, pilots and governance-ready packs (scripts, red flags, escalation routes, light evaluation).Core principles: slow meaning down / take care of stories / keep meaning human.

ABOUT STEPHEN HALL
I’m developing Digital Narrative Care (DNC): a practical framework for protecting meaning, dignity, and truthful recognition as stories travel through digital systems. At its simplest, the work is about keeping meaning human — especially where digital and AI-mediated tools shape how people are recorded, interpreted, and acted upon in high-stakes settings. Many current conversations focus on productivity and privacy. DNC focuses on what is often missing: record integrity, meaning integrity, and aftercare — what happens when the record is wrong in ways that matter, when a summary becomes “the story”, or when digital use becomes sticky, destabilising, or quietly shapes what people disclose. In practice, I deliver DNC through workforce development: in-person and online workshops, reflective sessions, and implementation support for teams — turning principles into usable scripts, red-flag recognition, escalation routes, and a light evaluation loop.DNC translates three principles into deployable practice: slow meaning down / take care of stories / keep meaning human. My background spans 25+ years across higher education, facilitation, leadership, and performance-based practice. I have worked across cultural, heritage, community, and educational settings, including senior leadership in performing arts education, large-scale stakeholder training, and simulated learning in health and care contexts.I’m currently developing DNC as a set of pilots, workshops, and governance-ready offers for NHS and higher education wellbeing services, alongside my role as External Dietetics Lecturer (Biosciences) at the University of Nottingham.
