About Stephen Falkner
I’m Stephen Falkner, a Biology and Psychology undergraduate who works at the intersection of neuroscience, data, and applied research. I’m less interested in staying within a single lane and more interested in understanding complex systems, especially where human cognition, physiology, and real-world data intersect. Most of my work has focused on brain injury, memory, and behavior. This includes research on concussion and impulsivity, traumatic brain injury and memory, and neurodevelopmental conditions such as autism and Tourette\'s Syndrome. Across these projects, I have been drawn to problems that require both biological intuition and analytical thinking rather than purely theoretical approaches.More recently, I have been exploring technical research environments that emphasize hands-on problem solving. This has included work with medical imaging data, computational tools, and structured analysis workflows. That exposure has shifted how I think about my future, moving me away from narrow job titles and toward large-scale, mission-driven research. I am particularly interested in environments like national laboratories, where interdisciplinary teams tackle complex problems with real societal impact.Outside of research, I am a student leader in Queens’ Transition to University program and a national-level rugby athlete. Both roles have shaped how I operate and how I approach challenges. I am comfortable taking responsibility, working under pressure, and navigating ambiguity, and I tend to do my best work when the problems are difficult and the stakes are real.I am open to conversations with people working in research, national laboratories, applied analytics, or interdisciplinary technical teams, especially in spaces where science, data, and human impact intersect.
