ABOUT STEPHEN WESTON

I am a mathematical modelling specialist and former head quant with excellent communication skills. At Hazelcast I focus on AI, data and innovation, whilst at the same time I also work with academic colleagues and students at Imperial College to develop innovative solutions to complex problems. I have developed machine learning algorithms and applications - especially Multi-Agent, Multi-Objective Reinforcement Learning models (in finance and climate), deep reinforcement learning and the use of control theory in machine learning (adaptive dynamic programming for reinforcement learning). Professionally, I am currently focused on developing models that integrate climate change, economics and finance using an agentic-AI approach. Our research group at Imperial College has published innovative work in areas such as spiking neural networks, ordinal pattern encoding of financial time series and bilateral and multi-lateral competition in financial markets. In October 2024 I began a second PhD this time in AI. The focus of my new research at University College London is at the intersection of behavioural psychology and multi-agent reinforcement learning as applied to major social issues.
