ABOUT STEPHEN THORLEY

I am currently employed by gbpartnerships as a Senior Project Manager and have worked in the construction industry for over 35 years gaining a vast amount of experience in all sectors of the industry. I am degree qualified – Bsc(Hons) Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management and have also gained post graduate qualifications in Management (EDMS) and Project Management (Prince2).Being part of project/contract management teams throughout my career I am very comfortable working and dealing with standard forms of contract, usually the JCT family but also ICE and NEC3, I am comfortable negotiating contract clauses and have experience of working for clients as well as contractorsCurrently I am working in partnership with the NHS, CCG and CHP delivering Capital projects across Greater Manchester from large highly complex hospitals to health care centres, delivering projects and offering a full turnkey package. My services in the past have worked with and manage 40 schools, Blackpool Council’s office portfolio and Health and Leisure centres; we cover all works associated with those sectors from general maintenance and statutory compliance to project work and new builds. My Capital team have managed and completed the sea defence works on Blackpool promenade (value circa £120 million) along with award winning building designs and worked on a new £22 and £14 million housing projects within the TownI have many years’ experience in the Private, Commercial and most recently, Public sector gaining much experience of managing staff (in excess of 200), projects and clients. For the last 10 years I have worked in a Senior Project Management role working for contractors and clients, my current role as Senior Project Manager for Design and Project Management has expanded my knowledge and ability to manage staff and business more effectively.
