The RiverRidge Group is Northern Ireland’s most integrated waste management company. Running a fleet of 110 vehicles over 7 sites; in Belfast, Derry/ Londonderry, Garvagh and Portadown. Stephen is responsible for some 120 drivers, 55 drivers mates and a transport department of 30 highly trained staff, centralised from the HQ in Belfast,which is the nerve centre and hub of RiverRidge. Reporting directly to the Transport Director, Stephen has sole responsibility for managing the O Licence undertakings for the RiverRidge group. Stephen is also responsible for the monitoring and recording of vehicle defects by drivers, the compilation and the accuracy of all records, ensuring vehicles are not overloaded and authorised vehicles will be kept at authorised operating centre when not in use. It is also his responsibility to make arrangements to ensure that drivers comply with drivers’ hours, tachograph rules, speed limits, ensuring vehicles are maintained properly, including the periodic inspection of vehicles at the appropriate time and the action taken to remedy defects found. As a member of the FTA NI Freight Council for Northern Ireland, and winner of Export & Freight’s Transport Manager of the year in 2016, Stephen has the core goals of the company at heart. With an award winning fleet, Stephen enjoys his role at RiverRidge, which is diverse and demanding and requires a mix of tenacity and manual labour. With a team of approximately 30 Traffic Office Staff, working various shift patterns, with all depots working 24hrs, 6 days a week, Stephen is responsible for a number of staff and is very comfortable dealing with problems, either of a Transport or Employee nature. He is efficient with excel packages and comfortably computer literate. Utilising specialised Transport software such as IWS, VWS Purgo, North Time Data, FTA Gateway & NIBC Tracking on a daily basis, he can quickly adapt to new applications.
