About Stephen Siegel
Steve has worked in insurance and technology since 1987, long before it became cool, when he designed and managed the implementation of one of the first successful commercial AI systems. He has extensive experience building and running consulting organizations and has advised senior executives at some of the largest insurance and financial services organizations. He has been involved with startups as a founder, investor, board member, and advisor. Steve was on the advisory board of the Brown University Entrepreneurship program for 16 years and served as board president for many years. He has also been an advisor to Slater Technology Fund, managing partner of Building2 Investments LLC, and a judge in numerous business plan competitions. Steve has been a mentor for Hartford Insurtech Hub, Mass Challenge, and the Breakthrough Lab at Brown University. Prior to entering the business world, Steve was a researcher for the Department of Defense where he did AI research and math models. He has a BS from Brooklyn College and ScM and PhD degrees from Brown University.
