ABOUT STEVE RICK

My journey into Financial Services and Technology has been anything but conventional. I began my academic studies with an open mind, exploring subjects such as Psychology, Business Studies and Photography. After a brief detour into Music Production, I began to pursue a degree in Computer Systems (Networks). During this time I gained hands-on experience in coding, computer networks, & I learnt the fundamentals of project management. After graduating university with a First Class BSc degree, I was thrilled to secure a place on Capital One\'s IT Graduate Scheme. This 2 year programme allowed me to sample various roles within Technology, helping me to build my professional network, learn new skills and decide upon a direction for my career. Since then, I\'ve sharpened my expertise in project management, moving from smaller technical enhancements, on to delivering large and significant programmes of business critical change. My role title has changed throughout that time, however the focus to deliver change in an efficient & well controlled manner has remained the same. My current role combines- Project/ programme management - Managing the delivery of an Outcome Team: 5 cross-functional teams working toward a common goal Notable projects- Led the delivery of a new agent-facing customer servicing application, streamlining call-centre agent tasks & significantly improving efficiency - Migration of several on-premise applications to AWS - Introduced core Mobile App account management capabilities, with features to reinforce positive customer payment behaviour & engagement Key responsibilities- Optimising team structures and workflows - Compliance with governance controls - Maintaining delivery roadmaps - Stakeholder comms I have worked with both Waterfall and Agile delivery methodologies and hold a range of industry certifications, including- PRINCE2 - Certified & Advanced Certified ScrumMaster - AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner I recently completed a Data Technician Apprenticeship, achieving a Distinction. This enhanced my proficiency in Google Sheets & Tableau for data analysis and visualisation. I am a highly skilled communicator, able to adapt my approach to effectively engage with diverse audiences. Whether diving into technical details with engineers, or providing clear updates to leadership, I excel at bridging communication gaps and ensuring alignment across all levels. I am results-driven, with a proven ability to rally teams & deliver projects at pace, ensuring success through collaboration & focus on key objectives.
