About Stephen Richman
Over a 35+ year career in real estate law and business, Stephen has worked with commercial, office, industrial and residential properties, including title/diligence review and analysis; drafting and negotiating leases, purchase agreements and ancillary real estate/business documents; conflict resolution (including landlord-tenant disputes) real estate management and advising on governmental regulation matters. After helping a local title company facilitate their merger with a regional real estate company (as Assistant General Counsel); after playing a pivotal role in revamping and managing a private trust company’s Illiquid Asset Department (as Assistant Vice President/Trust Officer) through the development of new policies, forms and procedures, and after a gig in private practice, Stephen is happy to be returning to his roots as (part-time) Senior Counsel at Kohrman, Jackson & Krantz.Stephen’s “real estate roots” were first established in his role as Vice President/General Counsel to Bearich Management Company, a real estate management and development organization with a portfolio of 2 million square feet in Ohio. Stephen refined and enhanced his real estate/business skills and experience (from 20••••21) as a transactional real estate attorney at Kohrman, Jackson & Krantz. He is valued for his ability to create/maintain strong client relationships, analyze and risk assess pertinent information, anticipate unexpected challenges and opportunities, and creatively formulate solutions.Stephen’s decision to pursue a career in real estate law/business was influenced by his father, a small business owner specializing in industrial real estate development. Steve also became interested in politics and community service as a young person, and today satisfies those passions via his positions as Councilman and Volunteer Juvenile Magistrate in his home community of Moreland Hills. In his charitable and philanthropic life, Stephen contributes to many causes related to youth and education. Stephen has been actively involved in such youth-focused organizations as Prevention Action Alliance, Cleveland Metro Bar Association’s “3Rs” program, Cuyahoga County’s Juvenile Diversion Program, Junior Achievement, Make-A-Wish and March of Dimes. In addition, Stephen and his family created The Richman Family Foundation (founded in memory of Stephen’s sister) to raise funds and awareness for cancer research, treatment and care.“A lot of my work has been with closely held businesses and families. I treat every client/customer as if they were my family.” – Stephen D. Richman
