April 2017 - PRESENT - TechLead, Device IdentityI joined the Identity team (a globally distributed and remote first team) to initially work on:* Design and rollout of our laptop management strategy, MDM vendor choice, and building our laptop enrollment and registration workflows using open source tools like installapplications and DEPNotify - using serverless workflows powered by AWS Lambda* Windows Management with Google’s enhanced Desktop Security for WindowsI then threw myself into learning all the Okta things,(as I felt like a bit of an imposter as a device specialist in an identity team) passing the Okta Professional and Administrator exams.Okta Workflow expert / evangelist - using it to onboard users as part of acquisition work and automate all kinds of things.Integration, management and troubleshooting of SaaS apps and playing an active part in our vendor review processApril 2015 - April 2017 - Device Automation Specialist - Comms and Collaboration Part of a remote first global team, Comms and Collaboration - with a focus on Video Conferencing and the automation and management of Mac based video conferencing rooms, mainly through working with cloud hosted MunkiAlso drove the introduction of MDM at Thoughtworks… initially for managing Zoom Room iPad devices… which led to MDM on laptops and (eventually) a move to the Identity team…April 2012 - April 2015 - Desktop / Office SupportEscaped academia for the bright lights of the private sector, and Thoughtworks London. Where I got to try my hand at all sorts of new things, like:* supporting local and remote users at our three (at the time) European offices.* Working with VM ESXi environments* Mac Imaging with DeployStudio* VOIP telephony with Asterisk* Office moves and build outsAnd lots more besides.
