About Stephen Percy

My path to the medical world was a circuitous one starting from work as a cardiac catheterization laboratory technician at the NIH and then a community hospital in Miami, Florida after graduation from Yale University to business school at the Amos Tuck School of Business where I earned my MBA which in turn led to working for Citibank for nearly 7 years, 4 of which was in Saudi Arabia. I made the decision to make a career change and applied to and was accepted to medical school attending the New Jersey Medical School in Newark, NJ where I also did my pediatric residency. I went on to complete a fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care at the Cornell Weill School of Medicine at New York Hospital before joining the staff here at Hackensack University Medical Center in 1996. I practiced critical care for 15 years before assuming the reins of the pediatric hospitalist service which has grown to take care of nearly every pediatric medical patient admitted to the general medicine service. I have been privileged to participate in the growth of the Children\'s Hospital and for the past two years to have served as the interim chairman. I continue to be active clinically, have a particular interest in education for which I have received multiple awards and interested also in ensuring that care is provided on an evidenced based approach in a fiscally responsible manner.
