ABOUT STEPHEN PARNHAM
I help individuals, businesses and trustees reduce their tax burden through robust and effective compliance and #specialist inheritance tax and capital gains tax planning. My clients? The owners of trading and investment companies, particularly property companies, or businesses especially where ordinary share capital or ownership remains concentrated in the hands of the founder or senior family members with unfortunate capital tax consequences. Complex trusts seeking compliance management and planning assistance at a high technical and practical level. Individual taxpayers with planning requirements or complex planning needs. Accountants and other professionals who have business clients requiring #BPR or #APR guidance, particularly following the October 2024 Budget announcements. I work happily alongside professionals already offering these taxpayers accountancy or legal advice where required … or on a specialist, standalone basis when necessary. Who am I? I am a Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) and a Member of both the Association of Tax Technicians (ATT) and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (TEP). I have over 40 years experience working in senior positions in law firms and accountancy practices. I am a Member of the Society of Expert Witnesses. In 2009 I established Stephen Parnham Taxation Limited, a consultancy practice to a tightly focused client base. I have considerable experience of working commercially and effectively alongside solicitors and accountants for the benefit of their clients (and my own) in the private client, inheritance tax planning, estate planning and corporate spheres. I am a contributing author to LexisPSL. LexisPSL is used by 88 out of the top 100 UK law firms for tax and legal technical support. I have been an ICAEW nominated ‘Top 50 Online Influencer for Accountants’ for the last three years. I place the highest premium on taking the time to genuinely understand what really matters to a client. Saving tax is always a nice objective but that is not necessarily what really matters. Listening and properly understanding is a precondition to ensuring that tax advice is truly ‘fit for purpose’ in every respect. I am a good listener!
