About Stephen Moua

I\'m a second-generation refugee and first-generation college graduate, and for me, education was always more than just a path to a good job—it was a way to create new opportunities for my family and myself. Growing up, my parents told me that school was my ticket to something bigger. And honestly? Every time I get asked why I pursued my degree, I always say, “I did it for my parents,” because their sacrifice is what fueled my drive. I didn’t always have a clear vision of what I wanted to be, but I knew that learning and connecting with others would open doors. In college, I found myself immersed in a diverse community of people—different cultures, perspectives, and professional paths. That’s when I realized how powerful networking could be. It wasn’t just about who I knew—it was about who they knew. The right connections helped propel me closer to my goals, and I’ve carried that mindset with me. Today, I work as a Scrum Master, coaching software teams on Agile practices to help them deliver high-quality work faster. At its core, my job is about building strong self organizing teams, empowering people, and creating real value. Outside of work, I’m into disc golf, music, food, and personal growth. Being a husband and a father has been a great joy and journey so far. I’m also exploring entrepreneurship to make a meaningful impact beyond my career. My ultimate goal is to guide other second-generation refugees through this wild world, helping them build their own legacies. It’s not about the cards you’re dealt; it’s about how you play them.
