ABOUT STEPHEN MONAGHAN
School Operations Manager at School Space. Previously, a Helicopter Operations Controller at Flexjet and also an Airport and Airspace Consultant at Sagentia Aviation, which included work on various airport, airspace and future aviation projects in an ever changing environment. I also lectured at both undergraduate and post graduate levels in Air Transport Operations and Management at the University of West London. I have also recently completed some lecturing at Farnborough College of Technology (CoT) as part of the inaugural \'Farnborough Airport Professional Certificate in Airport Operations\', a joint venture between Farnborough CoT and Farnborough Airport.Prior to that I was employed as a Regional Operations Manager for a market leading aviation fuel supplier within the Mediterranean, ensuring aviation fuel was supplied to airports across the region. The main part of my professional life so far was spent completing over 23 years in the RAF, with roles in logistics, fuels, operations management and flying as helicopter aircrew. In November 2022 I completed my MSc in Air Transport Operations and Management at University of West London, achieving the grade of Distinction.(Dissertation: 24 Hour Operations at London Heathrow. Focusing on capacity, business viability, noise and other socioeconomic impacts). I am skilled in mission management and operational planning and execution in both ground and airborne roles. This has been demonstrated consistently over the years on occasions ranging from the planning, delivery and execution of strategic level airport planning exercises through to successful operational tours in Europe, Asia and Africa, as well as during training in North America. Previously, in addition to my primary role, I was the lead instructor in various airborne and ground-based disciplines within my organisation. My roles within this included identifying and managing suitable candidates to become instructors as well as mentoring junior instructors. I also researched, designed and delivered bespoke training content for new training requirements when required. I also had an active role in recruiting the next generation of aircrew by arranging and executing open days to showcase the role of helicopter aircrew in the RAF.
