I am a patent and trade mark attorney at the Cambridge Office of J A Kemp.My patent work focuses on the telecommunications, electronics and electronic engineering, computer software, semiconductors, cleantech and medtech industry sectors. My design and trade mark work encompasses the fashion, consumer products, pharmaceutical, retail and transport sectors. I am also qualified as a patent attorney litigator and handle patent, trade mark and design litigation in the Patents Court (High Court) and Intellectual Property Enterprise Court (IPEC) and have conducted patent and trade mark appeals from the UK IPO in the High Court and advised on numerous pre-action matters in patents, trade marks, designs and copyright to achieve settlements for his clients.My technical expertise includes- Semiconductors- Data storage- Fibre optics- Communications systems and methodology- Control systems- Computer software- Medical devices including personal care and self-testing devices- Electronic commerce- Computer simulation and modellingMy clients include multi-national companies, universities and local SMEs. I am a regular visitor to Japan and Korea.In addition to qualifying as a Patent Attorney in both Europe and the UK and a trade mark attorney in the UK, I was called to the Bar (Lincoln’s Inn) in 2008 and undertook a one year pupillage (training as a barrister) at one of the leading chambers specialising in IP in London, gaining substantial experience in all aspects of IP litigation. This led to the award of a Patent Agent Litigator Certificate in 2009 which allows me to conduct intellectual property litigation in all relevant courts and of a Higher Courts Advocacy Certificate in 2014, which gives me full rights of audience in these courts, including the Patents Court, Intellectual Property Enterprise Court and on appeal from the Patents Court or IPEC.
