ABOUT STEPHEN DOUTHWRIGHT

I lasted just 2 months in my first sales position! So, how did I fall in love with sales 8 years later?My first \"sales\" job was as a college telemarketer, calling recent graduates and asking them for donations. After two months of constant rejections (I mean how many people 1 year out of college are going to donate money), I had enough. My views on sales were spoiled and I vowed, this was not the career for me.After receiving my PhD in Cell Biology, I knew the academic track was not for me. After contemplating my life choices (which every PhD does), I found myself accepting a position as a Field Application Scientist. Of course, at the time, I didn\'t truly understand that I just put myself back into the world of sales.However, I quickly learned that biotechnology sales was not simply comprised of value-less cold calling for hours on end. My scientific background provided me a unique skill where I could speak our customers language and be seen as a trusted partner.Due to some great mentorship early on and the invaluable lessons learned through my PhD, I was able to quickly learn the Sales ropes and become a top seller in my company in the first 2 years.Now as a Global Director I am passionate about helping others to not only consider a similar career path, but provide mentorship in becoming successful quickly in the sales world.Outside of work, I am a proud father, avid gym junkie, and fond lover of sarcastic humor
