About Stephen de Witte

In my current role, I manage and oversee the Strategic Planning Branch for KYTC. This Branch of 8-10 employees oversee Statewide Planning, Corridor Planning, and Metropolitan Planning functions for the Department of Highways. I manage the on-call Statewide Planning Contract, as well as manage a variety of Planning Study projects. I also act as the liaison to District 5 and served on the Secretary\'s Pool for KYTC Consultant Selection Committees from 20••••23.I also serve on a variety of KYTC and NCHRP Research and Implementation Committees, and am a representative for Kentucky to the AASHTO Committee on Planning as well as a representative of AASHTO to PIARC TC 2.2, Roads for Equity, Accessibility, Mobility in Rural and Interurban Areas. I am also a member of the TRB Standing Committee on Public Engagement.I am a 2013 graduate of Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree. While at Purdue, I performed with the Varsity Glee Club and worked as an Intramural Sports Official.I am licensed through the Commonwealth of Kentucky as a Professional Engineer.I was on medical leave from December 2015 to December 2017 after being struck by a vehicle whose operator had fallen asleep at the wheel while I was installing a traffic counting camera system. Thanks to fantastic medical treatment and the support of my friends and family, I am on track for a full recovery.
